Infrared photography is one of the most beautiful photography techniques known to man. Even though some photographers may claim the post processing to be cheating infrared photography produces some outstanding beautiful pictures. I’m sure many of you have come across an infrared photograph before whether offline or online and have been amazed by it almost surreal appearance. In this post, Designussion showcases some of the most amazing infrared photographs from around the web and a few tutorials on how to do it yourself.In infrared photography, the film or image sensor used is sensitive to infrared light. The part of the spectrum used is referred to as near-infrared to distinguish it from far-infrared, which is the domain of thermal imaging. Wavelengths used for photography range from about 700 nm to about 900 nm. Usually an “infrared filter” is used; this lets infrared (IR) light pass through to the camera, but blocks all or most of the visible light spectrum (the filter thus looks black or deep red).

Tilt-shift photography is a creative type of photography that takes a photograph of a life-size location or object which is manipulated to give an optical illusion of a photograph of a miniature scale model. Most faked tilt-shift photographs are taken from a high angle to further simulate the effect of looking down on a miniature. The technique is particularly effective on buildings, cars, trains and people.

Bokeh Photography as explained below, takes the out of focus light to create a beautiful images. Being a photographer myself, it has always interested me how photographers can create such an amazing “blur/haze” within the photograph without distracting the eye. In this post, Designussion showcases some brilliant examples of bokeh photography.

Bokeh (derived from Japanese, a noun boke 暈け, meaning “blur” or “haze”) is a photographic term referring to the æsthetic quality of the out-of-focus areas of an image produced by a camera lens using a shallow depth of field.^[1] Essentially, bokeh is an aesthetic and qualitative measure of light distortion in the out-of-focus areas of an image, and is primarily caused by lens aberrations and aperture shape.
